Kathleen O’Connor begins to research the O’Connor name and comes upon a legend. What she uncovers is a spectacular tale unlike anything she has heard before.

Aidan O’Connor is known as Irish Annie, a force to be reckoned with at the tavern where her mother is procuress. When she hears about the famous cartographer visiting her town, she uses her skills as an artist to get his attention.

What began as a way for her to get away from Tavern life becomes something much more as Aidan takes a journey unlike anything she ever imagined. While on the voyage she is taught to speak through an artist’s vision, kidnapped by natives, loses someone she cares for, and finds herself falling for a kind and gentle man. But when he learns the truth about her past, will he leave her broken hearted and alone or show her that God has a plan for her, one that includes him in her life?

The Golden Cross is a novel of epic proportion. Ms. Hunt grips the reader from the beginning as she uses Kathleen’s character to become the storyteller. Watching Aidan grow from a hardened young girl into a beautiful woman who fights for what is right and just was a wonderful thing to see. I think the steps that she takes throughout the novel are events that must unfold and make this book a more interesting read.
