Ethan is a human prophesied long ago to be the fated mate his vampire lover, Auris, was seeking. They have been living in Prague, but were hunted by an organization known as Gladius, seeking to eliminate vampires. A friend, the vampire Jonathan, was kidnapped while they captured a Gladius member named Brother Christian. Now they are in London seeking the Gladius headquarters.

Auris always knew he would find his fated mate as a human, and he is delighted that Ethan is not bothered by the fact that his love is a vampire who sometimes drinks blood from him. Auris is not bound by the tradition that vampires can only befriend their own kind. He has allied himself with a bear shifter and two wolf shifters. They want to stop Gladius from hunting vampires, and to rescue their friend.

Auris tells the story of his past to Ethan, to introduce the idea that he will want to change Ethan into what he is at some point, so their relationship can continue into eternity. Ethan asks many questions, both of his lover, and of the shifters, because he is only just learning about the many paranormal creatures who co-exist with humans. And together with their shifter allies, they discover that Gladius is not what they expected—in fact, they may not survive their encounter. And things will never be as they were before for Ethan and Auris.

I have not read the first two books in this series, but I have read other books by the author, and I enjoy her breezy, sassy style. Her characters are fun to read, and their relationships ring true to life–even when they are paranormal creatures. I was easily able to get into the flow of the story in this, the last installment of the series.
