Blurb:
Sometimes, the best laid plans are not.
Chelsea and Gail are engaged to get married. Their relationship is safe, comfortable, and without conflict. According to Tonya Gray, it also lacks the passion one should feel for the person you commit to for the rest of your life. Chelsea may not trust her because Tonya broke her heart three years ago. As the date nears, Chelsea has to figure out if love means what she has with her fiancée, or what she could have with the woman she cannot forget.
Excerpt:
“What did Gail say about that?”
“You didn’t talk about it?” Tonya asked, sounding genuinely surprised. “Well, I guess she didn’t think it was that important then. Don’t worry about it. Business is business”¦at least as long as you’re still going through with the wedding.”
“What does that have to do with me? Wait, if it does, why isn’t anybody talking to me?”
“I am now,” Tonya said calmly.
“So, what did she say?”
“I should make up my mind whether I want the school or you. I’m not telling you this to convince you one way or another. I get her. I would probably have done the same.”
She had asked for the truth, and Tonya had respected her wish. “You’re crazy!” Chelsea said out loud, the first thing that sprang to mind, voicing her frustrations for many reasons. “It’s a great project. It’s important, to you and in the general sense, and yet you asked me on this trip?”
“It’s about priorities.”
“What are you going to do if you have me alone in the middle of nowhere?” Tonya chuckled at the bold question. “I know what I’d like to do, but I know nothing’s going to happen tonight.” More serious, she continued, “I lost you once. If I ever get another chance, nothing else is as important.”
Chelsea didn’t have a comeback to that, and with every passing moment, the weight of Tonya’s words became heavier in the silence. Could she turn down a chance like that, with the first woman she’d fallen for head over heels? The short answer was yes. Damn, of course she could, most of all because she was engaged to another woman.
