That’s from Steve Martin for those of you who are too young to remember. The line goes something like (and I’m paraphrasing here) “I put bologna in my shoes. It makes me feel funny.” I haven’t actually ever tried putting bologna in my shoes, but I do love writing comedies. Funny thing is (okay the pun was intentional, forgive me) that my family doesn’t think I’m funny. The sad truth is, my sons and my husband are a lot funnier than me. So how is it that I’m the one writes romantic comedies?
I love funny stuff. So taking the plunge into romantic comedy seemed a natural. And I found that I loved romping around with the quirky folk I created. And that’s really how I do it- I create characters just this side of crazy and let them tap dance all over the pages. Occasionally, I have to reign them in. I can’t say exactly where they come from, though if I had to hazard a guess, I’d say observation. I mean face it, most of us live about half a block from crazy town. How else do you explain the guy who has stuffed and mounted every animal known to mankind? Or the women who knit a sweater using dog hair? As my good friend Tammy once said, “Everybody’s normal until you get to know them.” Hope you’ll get to know Nikki and Marco and the rest of characters in P-town.

13 years agoI love some laughter while reading about lovin! Haven't read anything by you yet, but I will now. And I didn't remember that Steve Martin quote, but then I didn't become a fan until I grew up. So now it's all in re-runs.
