1. What is your favorite sport and why?
As a real westerner, I've always been partial to rodeo. I once dreamed of being a barrel racer and then maybe a lady bronc rider even though at that time there were no women riding rough stock professionally. For other sports, I love figure skating and shooting sports like target shooting and archery. I have bad eyes and thus am not real good at them but it is fun.
2. Who is your favorite athlete or sportsman/woman and why?
Hmm, this is hard. I do get put off by a lot of the pro athletes in the major sports as so many of them seem to be rude, overbearing and definitely not hero material. As a kid I had crushes on most of the big name rodeo riders and during the last Winter Olympics, I was fascinated with Evan Lysochek (sp?) and Shawn White–very different guys but both seemed just like neat characters. I also admire Danica Patrick for her daring and several other women who compete in various sports. I guess I do not have a real favorite; I am fickle anyway! I don't watch sports on TV much and do not have favorite teams really. I kind of feel sorry for Tim Tebow though. He seems like a nice young man and is either over-lionized or laughed at by everyone! I think the Broncos goofed to trade him off and keep Favre, who could be out any time with his injuries. But what do I know?
3. If you could be a sports superstar, what sport would it be and what position, if applicable, would you play or event would you enter?
Oh wow! Well, since we are just dreaming here, I would be a saddle bronc rider and somehow magically indestructible LOL. After that, maybe a skier or figure skater. No, I would go to Alaska and compete in the Iditarod. I guess some would debate that dog sledding is or isn't a 'real' sport but I really do admire those mushers and the challenge of big races like the Iditarod! I am totally not a 'cold and snow' person really but these things have fascinated me most of my life! And then maybe I would climb Mt. Everest, or one of the other peaks that is not quite as high but hugely challenging. And yeah, it would be neat to ride a winner in some of the huge races, like win the Triple Crown!! I have Kentucky roots so that is a real draw too. Always have been a horse lover.
