Well! (said with a disdainful sniff). That’s gratitude for you, I suppose. I must say, Miz AZGaye (what kind of a name is that??),I was simply trying to be of assistance. And I shall, since providing aid and support is one of my life’s missions as a way to repay the many blessings that have come to me. You can be grateful or not as you choose!
At any rate, I was born in Dublin, as I said. That part is no secret as I would never deny my Irish heritage. And as AZG said, I do have red hair, as well as green eyes and a pleasingly voluptuous though athletic form. Since I was, I am told, the cause of my blessed mother’s early demise during my birth, I rather raised myself. Me da’s second wife was a pious prune faced biddy who labeled me devil’s spawn and I was not about to play Cinderella for any wicked step mother and her two nasty snips of daughters so out on the street I went.
One grows up fast in that situation and I was not a slow learner. I shortly made my way over to London where I prevailed upon a brother of my blessed mama to let me work in his gambling establishment. And it was there that I encountered my beloved Nigel, second son of Lord Quatrfoil and in time my husband. Though not the heir, he was the favorite of his maternal grandfather and recipient of the old gentleman’s considerable fortune. That was enough to allow us to pursue the adventures we both so enjoyed.
Sadly dear Nigel met an untimely end on a trek to darkest Africa in search of King Solomon’s fabled mine. Since we were childless at the time, I was sole heir to his vast estate and have carried on alone with the plans we had made. That seemed the best way to honor his memory, despite the disapproval of his titled family. They were so incensed they even offered me a pension to stay out of England and their realm entirely!
And that, dear friends, is how I came to be owner of the Hy Brazeal, which now carries us off to new adventures today! Does anyone care to join me in a game of chance now while we sail on in our search? It is said that I bring luck to the true of heart, the intrepid and adventurous, such as my dear Nigel…
