First, what are blurbs? They’re summaries of a book or film, intended to persuade / encourage readers to pick up the book. A good blurb can make or break your story.
Writing a blurb creates its own drama, but after you finish it, what do you do with the thing? Writers use blurbs and taglines constantly. They’re in our signatures, tweets, Facebook pages, you name it. If you get a chance to guest on someone’s blog or take out an ad, you’ll need more than the blurb. It’s handy to keep info on hand and easy to find.
I use the same blurb setup for each book. It includes everything from buy links, full titles, subtitles, hashtags, categories, tropes, and more. I’ve created an annotated version for you, so you can see reasons why things are included. You’ll likely find dozens of things you want to add.
Download this document in pdf or MS Word and plug in the info. Let me know what you think and if you think of other essential or good-to-know material, feel free to let me know.
