September 2018: Favorite Heroine

QUESTION: Of your published titles to date, which heroine is your favorite and why?
Viviana Mackade said:
This is a difficult question. I have 5 Heroines to my name: Ann, Andrea, DJ, Florence, and Summer. They were all great, but my favorite (I’m whispering here) are DJ (All Those Miles I walked) and Summer (His Midnight Sun) for different reasons.
Summer was a pleasure to work with, always so lovely and bright, and she helped me a lot when Aidan was unreasonable–and boy, wasn’t he.
But because for this blog I have to pick one, I’m going to go with DJ.
DJ is the one who I can relate to more, a sort of kindred spirit. We both love to travel and live in different places, we both know that it comes with a very high price tag. DJ had to leave Scott to embrace her thirst of knowledge of the world and find herself, whereas Marco (my husband) came with me since we took our first step outside Italy. But our families are there still now. You need a different mindset to accept that. I know I often come across as someone who doesn’t care just because I don’t cry every day over my far away family, but the truth is, I’m simply very independent. I don’t need to be in the same room with someone to feel him or her close. I know my real friends are there for me when I need a word of comfort or advice, and they know I’m here for them, any time, for how long they might need me. No, I don’t write to them every day. I dislike phone calls, and I’m not even touching Skype and company. DJ understood that because she lived it, just like me. She’s more of a people person than I am but at the core, we’re both travelers.
And of course, we understand each other’s trouble with men and how challenging can be loving someone with such a different personality than yours. And yeah, like she and Scott, Marco and I squabble a lot (and then we make up ?). I learned a lot from her in this particular aspect. She knows when Scott is way out there, and just shrugs it off and waits for the storm to pass. Which sometimes is the only reasonable way, really. I tend to be more dramatic about it, and I should stop. Sometimes men like Scott or Marco can, and do, stir a storm out from a nice cup of tea, and I should be able to take it for what it is–nothing. But hey, live and learn, right?
Now, all that being said, I’m going to promote my last book, His Midnight Sun, Summer’s book (you will find DJ in there, and Flo too, but all Crescent Creek’s stories are stand-alone), which is kind of weird. It would not be weird if you read both books though, which I strongly encourage you to. (Whispering again: Aidan is my favorite hero, ever, but this is really not the place to say that much. Sorry. But it’s true. The man drove me nuts. Was worth it though.)

His Midnight Sun ~ Crescent Creek
[Romantic Suspense ]
Tormented, fierce, and broken, sculptor Aidan Murphy has judged himself guilty. He yearns for love but pushes everyone away. He longs for acceptance but has lost the key to open his heart. Until he meets Summer Williams. Beautiful and smart, Dr. Williams promises haven for a man who believes he deserves none. All he has to do is let her in and risk his heart and soul.
Summer’s managed to keep her inner light alive, even through tragedy. She’s created a new life for herself and her daughter in Crescent Creek with loving, caring and fun friends–well, except brooding, breathtaking Aidan. She’s used to keeping away from his type, though. All she has to do is ignore the pull of a man who’s turning up to be much more than snarls and storms. Will her compassion and medical instincts let her?
Love can heal a broken soul and shake up a timid heart. Or it can unleash devastation and revenge.
Will Aidan and Summer survive the hurricane?
