Ren Benton said:
There’s a special place in my heart for Ivy Miller, heroine of Ten Thousand Hours. She’s always felt the need to compensate for her out-of-control sister by being ultra sensible and responsible. Everyone in her life is accustomed to her filling that role, and trying to do anything fun and exciting brings about their disappointment and censure. She feels stifled by her good-girl image… until, during a weekend getaway, she meets a man who has no idea she’s sensible, responsible, and boring. With this stranger, she speaks her mind, flirts outrageously, and does things Boring Old Ivy would never dare. She walks away from her first one-night stand high on rebellion and his parting assurance that she’s anything but boring.

When she returns home, family, friends, and work conspire to stuff her back into the close confines of her sensible box. However, Ivy once again crosses paths with her handsome stranger, Griff Dunleavy. He alone knows she has a secret wild side, and he offers her the opportunity to let it out to play with him. He doesn’t want someone responsible to do his taxes or babysit his dog while he’s out of town. He wants to have fun with her. No commitments. No unreasonable demands on her limited time. No one has ever thought her capable of a hot-and-heavy fling before, and Ivy seizes the opportunity like she’s never been sensible a day in her life.

Griff slowly convinces her that Fun Ivy isn’t an act and is just as much a part of her as the good daughter, steadfast friend, and employee of the month. She learns to use her hidden fire to make her stronger, to say no, and to demand what she wants from life. By the end of the story, she knows she can take on all the responsibility in the world and still be sexy and fun with the one man who sees her for all that she is.

I wrote Ivy for all the women who spend every minute of every day putting out fires that don’t even belong to them and yearn to be appreciated as something other than a fire extinguisher.

Ten Thousand Hours

[Contemporary Romance, MF, Steamy]

Weddings are Ivy Miller’s business, but when an ex proposes out of the blue, she flees to a tropical paradise rather than walk down the aisle. There, she discovers the passion missing from her sensible existence in the arms of a handsome stranger. She returns home, where no one suspects sweet, practical Ivy possesses a secret wild side — no one except the one-night stand standing in her parents’ dining room.

Semi-reformed bad boy Griff Dunleavy barely recognizes this cautious woman as the brazen temptress who left an impression on his flesh a week ago, but there’s no mistaking the sensual nature hidden behind her prim and proper façade. He makes an indecent proposal: a fling in which Ivy plays all the parts too untamed for her everyday life, which might supply enough variety to keep him intrigued for more than a day or two.

The offer is too enticing to resist — and too good to last. When reality demands full-time responsibility, Ivy can’t neglect family duty for a selfish fantasy. To keep his place in the life of the woman he loves, Griff must prove they can have forever… one hour at a time.
