Passion Never Dies
Gladys patted his arm. “Would you like me to knock for you?”
“No, I”¦ ” He drew in a breath, releasing it slowly. “Thank you, I can manage.”
With another pat, she turned and left. He lifted his fist, hovering it an inch from the wood. A sensation tingled over his skin, almost like a touch grazing him. He swore he felt her around him, in him. She’s right inside this room, idiot.
He knocked.
The door flew inward as his fist contacted the wood for a second knock.
Dawn gawked at him, lips parted, eyes wide. Her cheeks flushed. She stumbled backward, and in a breathless voice, said, “Jake.”
He rushed into the room, banging the door shut. A couple feet separated them, and he longed to crush her to him, claim her mouth, expose exactly how much he’d missed her. He couldn’t move. His heart pounded, his head light. A wave of euphoria knocked him off kilter, until all he could do was gape at her. “Are you”¦ okay?”
She nodded. “You?”
“Fine.”
Her gaze shifted down, toward his chin or maybe his mouth. She licked her lower lip, and hunger scorched him. “Are you, uh, planning to kiss me?”
Oh hell yes.
In one stride, he reached her and dragged her into his arms. She gasped, her tongue visible between her open lips. He covered her mouth with his, plunging his tongue inside to savor the taste of her “” sweet, salty, with a hint of dark spices. His need for her obliterated reason, and he thrust a hand into her hair, catching her head to tilt it back, then plundering her even more deeply. She melted against him and moaned. Her breasts were mashed into his chest, and even through both their shirts and her bra, the hard tips of her nipples pushed against his chest.
Her arms wrapped around his waist. She reciprocated his kiss with equal ardor, her passion inflaming his. They kissed forever, as time froze around them, the only sounds his hammering pulse and her little moans.
She ripped her mouth away from his, panting. “Jake, we’re probably being watched.”
