Phoebe Anderson is a murder mystery author–SUCCESSFUL author who actually makes a living at it. Right there is a great reason for this author to love her. When her husband turned out to be a cheat, she took that hate and wrote a book. Years ago, her break out novel was wishful thinking about murdering her good for nothing ex. Gotta love her spunk.

She’s lived the single life ever since, dating artsy types in the big city. She’s thirty-nine with a healthy sexual appetite. I can live vicariously, right? She’s also sassy and speaks her mind. I love both of those traits in this heroine. With a curvy shape, a hummingbird tattoo above her breast, and a gypsy/hippy style of dress, I had a fun time writing this lady who flaunts her personality. I’m also a latte addict, and so is Phoebe. She starts every morning at the Lacy Latte in the loft, drinking sweet coffee and eating a scone. Her laptop is open and she pounds out another murder mystery. More vicarious living here. This would be my favorite way to start my day.

We first meet Phoebe in book one, and although she’s much different than Lacy, they are steadfast friends. Phoebe falls for a cowboy, a surprise match in her mind, in Southwest of Love and Murder, book two of the series. When Phoebe finds herself exhausted after finishing her last book, and her sleep disturbed by noises in the night, she decides it’s time to give herself a short vacation. She wrangles an invitation to a ranch owned by a rancher, Mason Meadowlark, she had a one-night stand with and happens to be the brother of Lacy’s husband. I modeled this hero from one of my favorite stars, Robert Redford, in his earlier years. He’s a wounded hero that’s been passing himself off as a cowboy playboy. He can match Phoebe kiss for kiss in the sexuality department. Oh sigh!

But there’s more than horseback riding and sexual encounters in Phoebe’s life. A murderer idolizes her, and she finds her vacation wrought with suspense.

Mason and Phoebe made for a fun few months in front of my computer. They had to finally get serious, but even when they’re serious, they romp through the pages.

Southwest of Love and Murder: The Love and Murder Book 2

[Romantic Suspense]

Mystery writer, Phoebe Anderson, owes her success to killing her first husband on paper seventeen years earlier. Now, someone has actually done it. When she decides to take a few days away on the ranch of her best friend’s brother-in-law, she doesn’t expect romance to find her…or murder to follow her.

Mason Meadowlark is happy with his wild cowboy ways, avoiding love since the death of his baby and the end of his marriage twenty years ago. When Phoebe shows up, he fights to control his emotions, but soon wonders if she just might be worth the risk of opening his heart again.

With an obsessed fan close on her heels, Phoebe is thrown into her own murder mystery…and the next target on his list is Mason.
