Tagline: What can an F.B.I. Agent do when the hunt turns personal, and he becomes the prey? Read “Murder Most Foul” and find out:
Blurb: When two dismembered torsos wash up on the banks of the local river in the small industrial town of Pleasant Valley, residents are horrified. Between contradicting statements, police ineptitude, lust, lies, manipulation, incest, the motorcycle gang The Devil’s Disciples, crooked cops, and a botched crime scene, everyone becomes a suspect.
The young beautiful Jackie Reeves, a registered nurse, believes the killer is a man from her past. She contacts the dangerously handsome FBI Agent Walker Harmon. An arrest is made, but Harmon and Jackie believe an innocent man is being railroaded by local cops. How far will these lover’s go to solve this heinous crime before anymore killings. Determined to find the truth, Agent Harmon and Jackie are forced to run a gauntlet of deep trouble and turmoil, which marks them for death.
Excerpt: On the third day of the trial, Jackie paused at a near marketplace for French cuisine. With the cabin supplying a full kitchen, she hoped to surprise Harmon with one of her own home- cooked meals. But, while shopping, she grew uneasy. Her simple purchasing stop turned into a nightmare.
“Excuse me, aren’t you dating that Federal Agent?” a customer asked.
Hesitating, she reluctantly answered, “Yes, I am.”
“Why is your boyfriend tryin’ to get that baby rapist set free? We all know Vernon did it,” another customer said.
“The trial isn’t over. Vernon James hasn’t been found guilty of anything yet,” Jackie replied defensively.
“Well, I heard the step-father confessed to a cell mate that he killed the kids inside his trailer, then masturbated on their dead bodies,” the cashier replied.
“A cell mate? If you’re referring to Kevin Delmar, he’s a known criminal and liar,” Jackie said. “Mr. James hasn’t confessed to anything, and he hasn’t been convicted of anything.”
“Well, he will be. He’s a murderer,” an expectant mother said.
Leaving before she said something she would regret, Jackie gathered her groceries and threw twenty dollars at the cashier. She made a beeline for the exit, away from the mob of angry women, only to face another kind of danger.
A few miles down the road, her brakes failed and her car speeded downhill. Unable to stop, she frantically pumped the brake pedal while passing cars, and swerving around corners narrowly missing oncoming
traffic. Through tears and blurred vision, she begged, “Lord, don’t let me die.”
Laying on the horn and alerting other drivers of her dilemma, she avoided a collision by veering onto a barricaded side road under construction. Hoping the snow-covered ground would cushion her fall, she baled out just before crashing into a cluster of Ohio buckeye trees.
