Today is Thanksgiving! Can you believe it? I know I can’t. The year has flown by so fast. Pretty soon it will be Christmas. I am just glad that I actually have some Christmas presents done and even wrapped. That is sooooo not like me! LOL. Anyway, I am here today to talk about Thanksgiving, not Christmas.
We have a tradition in our house on Thanksgiving; one that I think could be implemented at each dinner setting. Then maybe we would have a happier time eating lol. (Or maybe I wouldn’t eat so much). I know many families do this during the holiday season as well. That is to go around the table and say what we are thankful for. Usually we only pick one thing, which usually ends up being something to do with snow, school, or family that has travelled to be with us. So for this Thursday Thirteen, I have decided to do Thirteen Things I am Thankful For. So here goes nothing!
13: I am thankful that even though the Detroit Lions get the crap beat out of them at almost every game, I can still watch them on Turkey Day!
12: I am thankful this Thanksgiving that while we have snow, it is not as much as we usually have. That means I can actually wear my dress shoes to the place I am travelling instead of those darn clunky boots that always seem to smell like wet feet.
11: I am thankful that we will be able to pray around the table before we eat. There are many places around the world that do not have the freedom of religion like we do.
10: I am thankful to have a roof over our heads. There are so many people who have lost their homes, are homeless, or may have a very leaky roof that it seems almost redundant to have a roof.
9: My dog recently had puppies. Due to some weird circumstances, we weren’t sure if they were going to come out healthy or not. I am thankful that not only did they come out healthy but they are growing beautifully. (Now if I can just remember that we CANNOT have 7 puppies!!! LOL)
8: I am thankful that my Grandmother-in-law will be with us for at least one more holiday.
7: I am thankful that I still have my husband around. He is my support system, my best friend, my world.
6: I am thankful that we have 2 vehicles. My husband is going to his family and I am going to mine. We usually don’t do this but I have family coming up that I don’t ever get to see during holidays. And since my Grandmother-in-law will be at her family, my husband wants to spend time with her.
5: I am thankful that I have my two dogs. It makes me feel protected when I am home alone all day or all night.
4: I am thankful that I am sore right now. I know it sounds weird. But I have been working out at the gym. So it is nice to know that the exercises I am doing are helping lol.
3: I am thankful I have a job. There are so many people that do not have jobs. I have been working at the same place now for five years.
2: I am also thankful that my husband still has his job. He has been there now for 14 years. Hopefully he will be able to stay there till retirement.
1: What am I most thankful for? My kids of course! While they can drive me nuts”¦and often do, I still love them. Especially when they are not fighting and are quiet”¦hmmm that seems like when they are sleeping! Just kidding. I love them. I would not change them for the world!
So that is the list of things I am thankful for! What are you thankful for? Tell me.
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others’ comments. It’s easy, and fun!
