What got you started in writing?
Not gonna lie, I started writing historical romance specifically because of Julia Quinn. I watched Bridgerton, got obsessed and blazed a path through a number of authors in a very short time.
I’ve always loved reading and writing, but it wasn’t until I read Julia Quinn that I thought I had found a genre I would like to pursue.
Why write historical romance?
I love the societal pressure and expectations that the women of that period had to face because I love writing women that break out of those constraints. To write shy women that break out of their shell or bold women who push the boundaries is pure delight.
In the end, each one of them learns to accept themselves for who they are. And they all find someone who truly sees them and loves them for being themselves.
Talk about what inspired your book The Blighter and the Bluestocking.
I had soooooo many ideas running through my head for so many stories at once that I knew I wanted a long series. So 7 brothers it was. And then I wanted to connect the stories in a fun way, so I was thinking of things in sevens. And the seven dwarfs seemed like a fun fit. Also, it fit perfectly as a spin off to my fairytale retellings series, The Dukes for Christmas, where book 4 (A Flurry for a Duke) features a Snow White retelling.
So many pieces of the puzzle just fit perfectly, and The Ashbourne Legacy was born.

What was your favorite scene in this book?
I had an absolute blast writing this story, in fact, this whole series. I absolutely LOVED writing the meet cute, where they collide into each other. She’s all in a huff, and he’s all in a huff, and then they end up huffing all over each other. It cracks me up!
And then I thought it would be hilarious to have her sneak into his house and get caught. So that scene was also hilarious to write.
All in all, I loved writing the whole story between the STEM female, obsessed with her work, and the arrogant duke who thinks he has a picture of the type of woman he wants for his future. Both of them find out that you can lay the best plans, but life doesn’t always listen to those plans. And that’s for the better.
If you like lighthearted, fast-paced historical romance that makes you laugh out loud, this is the perfect series.
