Why I decided to rework Ancient Greek myths

Hiya Everyone!

I am so excited to take part in Myth Madness and be able to share Mythological Messes Redux with all of you.  This one is very close to my heart … let me tell you why.

For ten years I was in university with two majors, one of which was Ancient Greek.  Yes, I spent everyday of my life in some way with a mythological figure.  I read myths over and over again, The Odyssey and The Iliad at least a dozen times each [it seemed as if every professor had a different preferred translation 8-/], visited a multitude of museums to look at sculptures and also looked through many books checking out endless naked men in stone.  It was a hard life!

Through all those years, and they were exciting, something big started to grow in my head.  The more time I spent with some character the more apt I was to think about new endings for their stories … not forgetting the lessons they offered but giving them a second chance at happiness.  So, once I started writing, the more I thought about putting these tales down only I didn’t.  Well, I didn’t refresh their endings until a call came out from a publisher for mythical figures and I couldn’t say no any longer … apparently I couldn’t say no 5 times!

There you go, that was the how the Mythological Messes Redux series came about.  Next I’ll share with you the figures I reworked, why, and some of what their tales include.
