Greetings. Again, this is Sharita Lira with a post about being an author and or writer since they are more synonymous that you think. Sooo, what about writing? It’s something authors love to do. We keep strange hours, writing when the house is asleep or awake depending on the members in your household. Or maybe you’re a lone ranger. Oh you’re really doomed! *grins* No one to bother you or answer to? It means you can spend a ton of time with your muses and or characters. And oh, what about those critters? Yes, the ones you talk to and think about all the time while driving. I know I do. I talk to them and discuss parts of the story I need to rewrite. Other times, you might be typing away at your desk or whatever kind of surface you use, hammering out details and you blurt out things making your SO look at you as if you sprouted three heads. Yes, I’ve done that many times. *shrugs* Hubby is used to it now but will ask, what are you talking to the muses about now?
My response? Oh just the next story I’m working on. *laughs*
You laugh aloud with them when you type something humorous. Yes, this happens a lot when me and BLMorticia get together. She really has me going on our next book, Candyman and then there’s the things that come up in your dreams. Whether it be the ones you have while you sleep or the ideas that come to you when you’re awake and again, you blurt it out, you chuckle at the restaurant table when you come up with something new.
A plot bunny! EUREKA!
You scramble for anything to write with; pen, paper, crayon, napkin, toilet paper, the back of your receipt. Your family gives you the ‘Really mom or dad’ looks that make you blush. And if that’s not available, you type it in your phone or your iPad if you carry it around with you, anything to keep it in your head. Oh and lets go back to those little fockers, the bunnies. You love when they come to you but hate when you already have like 100 er so working that you haven’t written yet. Damnit, not again! Damn muses.
Lastly, what about your muses? Mine are writing muses. My characters do speak to me from time to time but my muses control me. Sharita writes most of the blogposts but the stories I blame on the 3 muses. BL with her snark and wickedness, Rawiya with her sensual emotional pieces, and Michael with his long winded, dry humor. Yes I know them all. I’ve only been doing this for a little over a year but I finally got them down packed and I intend for it to stay that way.
So, what am I? Crazy? I’m a person with 3 muses that drive me to the point of exhaustion, I talk to my characters, have conversations about stories in my head, I take hardly no time off from tapping the keys on that laptop, and I do it all with many of my peers not understanding why or how I do this when it’s so hard to make a living, and yet I love it. What am I? An author!
Author Sharita Lira: The Triad, otherwise known as the characters in the head of Sharita Lira are three separate muses that are the driving force behind her small amount of success. Misses Lira sees her own life as one that is very ordinary, so instead of presenting herself out to the world, she created three personalities that continue to haunt her all hours of the night to get several WIP’s done at the speed of light, and push her to the brink of sheer exhaustion, but she loves it and that’s the reason she hasn’t told them to get the hell out her head.
Michael Mandrake, BLMorticia, and Rawiya collectively have written over 30 stories published in e-book and or print through 7 different publishers. Right now as it stands, Mrs. Lira and the muses have 6 sole author books with much more to come in 2012 and beyond.
She is a happily married mother of two that writes m/m, m/f, ménage, paranormals, contemporaries, and for fun some fan fiction. She is a proud member of the Erotica Readers & Writers Association, as well as an advocate for rights of LGBT citizens, and a big fan of 80′s and heavy metal music. She’s also a contributor to the heavy metal ezine Fourteeng.net.
