Thirteen Things I never thought I would say:
I remember as a young girl and later as a teenager uttering that famous line that we all say at least once in our lives. “I will never say that”. Another famous line that we all say at least once is, “when I have kids I will never do that.” So it got me to thinking about thirteen things that I thought I would never say. As I drank my coffee, I began to make a list of things that I have said that now have me shaking my head in wonder.
Caution: Make sure to take notes because for those of you who do not have kids yet, I can guarantee you will be saying at least one of these in a future conversation.
1. Because I said so!
2. I’m your mother that’s why!
3. If Johnny were to jump off of a bridge, would you to?
4. Take those underwear off you head!
5. I am doing this for your own good.
6. Stop picking your nose!
7. You went potty? “Yay!!!”
8. Honey don’t worry, soon enough you will have boobs and then wish you didn’t.
9. I swear if I step on G.I. Joe one more time he is going to be beheaded.
10. You may hate me now but you will thank me one day.
11. I love getting you electronics because it is the perfect weapon against your mouthiness.
12. I know it hurts now but I swear you will forget about it by the time you are married.
13. When you have kids of your own you will understand.

I love the first one, and did I ever end saying it a lot. With my first one I started out explaining why I said no. She turned out, as soon as she could talk, to be an extensive arguer–still is as an adult. In self preservation, I soon learned to say “Because I said to.” She has also given me the opportunity to say, “What goes around, comes around.” as a follow up to number 13

Thanks for all the posts. And Susan number 8 is something I said to my daughter when she came home complaining because one of her friends teased her about not needing to wear a training bra.
Thank you for the laugh! I find myself saying a few of these things…to the canine kids and the hubby! Of course, the hubby’s responses are funnier than any I could have come up with when I was a kid. The memories alone of my mom and I standing in the kitchen, arguing and I think all but #8 came out of her mouth (I missed the training bra step)LOL
