Summer is officially here, and with it comes one of my favorite holidays. It’s a day that has great historical significance as well as a day for revitalizing ties with family and friends while having a great time. Independence Day is one of my very favorite days of the year. Here are thirteen reasons why:
1. Independence Day – commemorates the Declaration of Independence that declared the United States independent of Great Britain.
2. Patriotism – the Fourth of July stirs feelings of pride for my country.
3. Parades – great fun and an American tradition
4. Dressing for the occasion is easy – unlike Halloween with its costumes and pumpkin orange, wearing red, white and blue is fun and flattering.
5. Baseball – what a great day to take in a game.
6. It’s a Federal holiday!
7. The Fourth of July marks my unofficial start of summer. Everything up to that date is just the preliminary.
8. Celebrating veterans and their contributions is a great part of this holiday.
9. Summer time!!! Need I say more?
10. The beach! The Fourth of July is a perfect day for going to the beach and reading a great book.
11. Cookouts – hamburgers, hot dogs, and potato chips. An American tradition!
12. Time with family and friends – whether at a cookout, on the beach, or taking a hike, this is a great day for taking time to reconnect with family and friends.
13. Fireworks!!!

I love the Fourth of July too. I have a flag on my front gate, and a red, white and blue star near my front door. I just need a few more things and I’ll be ready for our barbecue come the Sunday.
I stopped by your blog today.
