Victoria and her father are two of England’s greatest machinists, designing all manner of intriguing devices. When the war comes to Europe, the machinists’ talents are put to other uses. Her majesty’s government has built a strange new war machine, a clockwork, many-tentacled behemoth that could win the war for England. The only problem is finding someone to test it. Her father is too old, but Victoria is young, and an expert machinist in her own right. When the government leaves her alone to test out the clockwork tentacles as she sees fit, however, Victoria realizes that this machination is useful for more than just war…
