Hi, All! It’s an absolute pleasure and honor to be here at the Book Brew.
It’s February, as if you didn’t already know. That means it’s time to celebrate all things romantic.
I’m a sucker for a good romance. If a box of tissues or dancing shoes are required, then it’s a hit with me! Even better if it’s a late eighties, early nineties. There’s just something about the soundtracks and feel for that era that really resonates with me. Maybe that’s because I was still dreaming about finding real love when I first saw them back in the day. So…
This this is my homage to old, ionic romance movies that have major moments that make me smile whenever I think of them. I hope they make you smile, too — click on each movie title to be taken to a magical movie moment.
From Top Gun to Indecent Proposal — which ever the romance movie, you can guarantee the pivotal romantic moment in the movie is an iconic one. They’re memorable, and the reason why those movies have become all time favorites for me.
Top Gun, 1986 — Which takes me straight to the bar scene, and Maverick claiming ‘she’s lost that loving feeling’.
Dirty Dancing, 1987 — “Nobody puts Baby in the corner.”
Some Kind Of Wonderful, 1987 — Watts puts on Keith’s diamond earrings and says, ” What do you think?. He replies, “You look good wearing my future”.
Cocktail, 1988 — “If Jordan gives birth to a fine Irish son, there will be Cocktails and Dreams for him one day to run. A business that will yield the financial windfall, to be franchised in every suburban shopping mall. If a daughter arrives to bless our clan, I guess the shit will finally hit the fan. But this I shall promise thee, I’ll never let her marry a guy like me. Still if our child is the naughtiest of girls or the wildest of young men, I swear I’ll be the best dad I can. And never ever get spooked again.” And boy, does he get spooked again! LOL
Say Anything, 1989 — Remember that scene? Out on the lawn, John Cusack putting himself out there with the Ghetto Blaster blaring out the madly romantic vibes of Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes.
Ghost, 1990 — Sam Wheat, “It’s amazing, Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.” *hands out the tissues*
Indecent Proposal, 1993 — “If you ever want something badly, let it go. If it comes back to you, then it’s yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never yours to begin with”. Diana.
These are just some of my favorites. I’m willing to bet my whole romance-movie collection that you have favorites too! I hope you share them in the comments section, along with your favorite moment from said movies. Let’s share the love!
