I’m a mystery romance author, and I’m going to talk about my work in progress. After working for a major airline for 36 years, I had to write a story set where I worked.
The tentative title for this story is Rumbles, Rumors and Lies. In all companies there are rumors and lies being started every day, and you just have to learn not to listen. At airlines and other businesses, there is the addition of rumbles, and this usually comes from unions during contract negotiations (I’m not negative against unions). I’ve tried to add all these elements to my story.
Here is a short unedited excerpt from Rumbles, Rumors and Lies:
Friday, June 19, 11 A.M.
In the dark tunnel, while listening to the woman degrading the man, rage built. No one deserved such treatment, certainly not by scum like her.
The man left, the woman followed continuing her diatribe. The man escaped.
The woman didn’t.
Strike. Thud. The woman must learn to be submissive. Strike. Crunch. The sound of bone cracking was exciting. Strike. One last whack with the bolt, and she was dead.
She deserved to die in the dark, not knowing who was punishing her. It was a fit penalty for a whore.
Saturday, June 20, 2 A.M.
The body is still here. Thank GOD, no one had found it.
Scrape. Tug. Pull. Lift. Hurry! Hurry! Damn, she’s heavy. The head and upper body is the worse, her eyes are staring at me. Push her in. Hurry! Throw a cover over the body before someone comes. Have to get her body out of here. Hide it where it won’t be found for a long time.
2:15 A.M.
Pull. Slide. Heave. “Uuuh.”
“She won’t be found in this plane on the ramp.” Thank God, these airplanes are grounded and no one will check them unless they need one. They’re lots of planes so the likelihood of them choosing this one is improbable. I’ll be safe.
Would this beginning interest you?
