Loving an Alien – KC Burn

In order to create aliens that had the potential for sexual interaction with humans, I made my Ankylos species two-tiered.  The warrior class is the one positively bristly with spikes, but the ruling class didn’t need the weaponry and defensive skin armor”¦ which means we’ve got a biped that won’t kill his lover by a misjudged arm movement.  Always a good thing in romance!

If the universe is infinitely large, then I believe somewhere out there, there are other sentient species.  However, the odds that evolution would occur on a distant planet to create a species, probably not even carbon-based, that would be sexually aroused in a similar manner to us”¦ well, I have problems believing that.

Even if sexual arousal followed similar patterns, the bits would also have to align in some way so that”¦ well”¦ you probably get the idea.

Ultimately, I don’t believe an alien species would be attracted/attractive to humans, I don’t believe the sexual parts would be compatible, and I’m not even sure I believe that an alien species would be sexual in any way”¦ maybe they’d bud like amoebas or flatworms.  Maybe they’d be hermaphroditic.  But it is such a cool challenge to come up with an alien species that is still”¦ alien”¦ while having the potential to be oh, so much more.  Fun, fun!  Hopefully I succeeded with my ruling class aliens, and hopefully their potential as lovers, mates, is obvious.

Got any opinions on human/alien lovin’?

Well, I’ve had a great time.  Don’t forget to comment (sometime before midnight EST, March 13) for a chance to win a copy of my new release, Spice “n’ Solace.
