I was reading some of the posts from yesterday and went, “Oh wow!” I think it is wonderful that some authors are giving the more mature folks a chance at their happily ever after–maybe the second time around or a second chance when the first prince charming turned out to be a horny toad <g>.
Now for y’all who do not live in the west, we have a somewhat odd lizard out here that is commonly called a Horned or Horny Toad. They are not toads but lizards although they are wide and kinda flat but their skin is spiked with many little points and so the name has come about. I will try to find a photo of one to share. Anyway, the old kissing frogs becomes –sometimes–toads and then we add the adjective for a double meaning there. I think I could easier kiss a Horny toad than a regular one or even a frog if it came to that but they don’t sound like a good mate! LOL.
Anyway, I am watching a very nice romance develop where both the parties are in their sixties and I think it is awesome. I have had a turn or two thru this scene myself and darn it all, there is not one reason why Seniors cannot meet and fall in love and enjoy the thrill just as much as the teens and twenty-somes do! Being alone when you get older can be a daunting and painful thing and a great number of our Seniors wind up either widowed or divorced and needing to make a new start. You know, I think it would be awesome if they’d do one repeat of The Bachelor or Bachelorette with a person over fifty who was looking for Mr or Ms Right. They might not be able to wear some of those skimpy Las Vegas showgirl outfits etc but there could be a lot of drama and such just as with the younger folks. And they could go to exotic places and have fun just as the current group does! Shall we start a letter writing or petition campaign??
Does anyone have a fave mature folks romance book they’d recommend? If so let me know!
