Let’s Celebrate Love and ROMANCE!

Good morning everyone. Well, February has started off with more bang than whimper I think. It is March that is supposed to be in like a lion and out like a lamb or vise-versa but who knows? Anyway, the Seahawks kicked some serious butt in the big game, the Pennsy rodent saw his shadow (but then he’s wrong as often as not I read) and more cold, wet storms seem to be lined up like cars on a freight train to roll over places that have already been smashed flat with bad weather.  So let’s just put all that in the “Too Hard” box for now and have some fun!

February is the month of love, roses and chocolates, hearts and flowers. A lot of that is now thought to be corny and sappy–and maybe it is–but I think most women still have a secret fondness for being courted in sweet old fashioned ways and we love a good love story. Most of us prefer a ‘real’ romance because we can trust there will be a happy ending no matter what trials and tribulations the couple must struggle through to get there. So without further ado, get a steamy cup of mocha or whatever flavor you prefer and let’s  party like it’s 2014 and Spring WILL come in time.

This weekend also marked the old Celtic festival of Imbolc or Oymelg which marked the first blush of spring, the time female animals began to lactate to prepare to nurse their young and a few springs of green appeared. It’s also sacred to the Goddess Brighid/Bride/Brigid who presided over -depending on the source you consult–hearth and home, health and childbirth, creativity and the forge and more! A bit of that is not so far from love and romance, either, come to think of it. Later the goddess was reinvented as the Catholic saint, Brigid and maybe she at least knew of St. Valentine!  Who knows.

I kinda fell down on the job and did not come up with a new game or contest or demand that my partner, Sabrina, create one so I think we will go back to our “Instant Winner” plan and give the usual small gift certificates and one big one in an overall drawing among the comments. Try to do better next month when our theme is myth and magic mayhem with a bit of Celtic frosting over the mix.

Let’s party!!
