Introducing Anne Barwell

Thanks for the opportunity to take over the blog today.

Hi, I’m Anne Barwell, a Kiwi author living in Wellington, New Zealand.  I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember and have been published for ten years. I’m in the middle of republishing my backlist, having got the rights back from my publisher, and am loving being an indie author.

As part of the takeover, I’m offering an ebook from my backlist. To be in to win, all you have to do is comment on one of my posts.

I have three children—twin girls and an older boy—and six grandchildren. My youngest, Addie, has just turned six months old, and my eldest Harmony is seventeen.  I share my house with Kaylee, a cat who has totally bought into being a ‘naughty tortie.’  She’s convinced the house is run to suit her, and will stand impatiently by the living room door if I’m staying up too late.  The fact I have visitors doesn’t deter her from doing it either.

I’ve worked as a primary school teacher, and was a music teacher for over ten years, but now work in a public library. I play piano and violin, the latter in a community orchestra. My characters are often musicians and music plays a part in my stories.

As a fun aside, Kit and Michel in Winter Duet talk about Mozart’s Magic Flute, and we’re playing that in our upcoming orchestra concert next month, which is when the last book in that series comes out.

I always have knitting on the go, especially as I have children to knit for, and my publishing name, LaceDragon Publishing, is taken from my username on Ravelry, a craft and knitting site.

I write gay romance across a range of genres, with a particular leaning towards paranormal and historical. I’m a member of the Romance Writers of New Zealand , and currently their contest co-ordinator, although after three years, I’m handing that role over to someone else after the conference next month. I’m also the co-founder of New Zealand Rainbow Romance Writers.

My site is Drops of Ink. The name is from a poem by Byron. I have a BA/BTeach in English Literature and Music and it shows at times.

For your first chance to be in to win…

I love meeting people from all over the world via the internet, especially as we’re very much cut off in our New Zealand bubble away from everyone else at present. Where in the world are you?
