Interview-Sable Hunter

Welcome to our special event celebrating the idea that “Love Conquers All.” We’re happy to welcome Sable Hunter to share in our event today.

CTR: There are lots of old sayings about love such as “Love conquers all”, “The course of true love never runs smooth” and many more! There are also many aphorisms and epigrams meant to inspire and encourage us when we are working to overcome difficulties. Since we are featuring tales of loves and individuals who rise above a variety of hardships, barriers and troubles today, maybe you can tell us what old saw may have inspired you and how you used it to create your special story.

SH: There is old Arabian proverb that says we should live and love our beloved as if this is our last day on earth. That’s Scarlet’s philosophy. In Scarlet Fever, our heroine needs a kidney transplant. Due to her circumstances, she is unable to obtain insurance and cannot get dialysis. She travels to her sister’s wedding with a bucket list hoping to see and do a few things that she has always wanted to do while she still feels good. The #1 thing on her list is to experience lovemaking with someone she can trust. Scarlet doesn’t want to die a virgin. So, she walks into Alex Stewart’s life and turns it upside down. He falls head over heels in love with her and will do anything ““ anything ““ to save her life and make her his.

CTR: Please tell us a bit about the work you are featuring today. The ISBN and buy link is always good and maybe some background or “story behind the story’ to pique our reader’s interest. Readers would like to know any what special people or events may have inspired you to write this particular story. You can provide a blurb here also!

SH: Scarlet Fever is a story that is close to my heart. I have a friend who endured the same set of hardships. Her kidneys were damaged during another surgical procedure and she lived with a death sentence hanging over her head until she met and fell in love with a hero who, literally, saved her life. He was tested and proved to be a high enough match for his kidney to be compatible. They are happy, in love and together today. The buy link for Scarlet Fever is:

The three brothers, of which Alex is the middle ““ provide the hero material for my Hill Country Heart Series. Ethan’s story is Unchained Melody and the youngest ““ Bobby’s story released on April 23rd and it is Bobby Does Dallas.

CTR: Do you yourself have any handicap or problem that you may have had to struggle to overcome either in your career or your personal life? Do you have any words of inspiration or hope for others who might be dealing with similar or other problems? Many people rely on faith, friends, family, and other kinds of support to help them. Do you have a favorite cause or charity that you may work to support and help? Have you ever dedicated part of the profits from a book or other work to such a cause?

SH: My books are always about heroines that face challenges ““ sometimes these are abuse, disease, prejudice, poor self-confidence due to insecurities about any number of things that women worry about. We worry about our looks, our age, our appeal ““ we even worry about the size of our breasts and our hips. So, yes ““ I suffer from some of these challenges. To protect the innocent, I will not be specific, but I can assure you that if you read my books there are pieces of my life there for all to see.
My words of inspiration is to tell you that everyone is beautiful and everyone is worthy of love. If you are a woman who is suffering from abuse, find the strength to get help. If you are facing prejudice because of your skin color or your religious preference ““ you have to hold up your head and realize that people who look down on you do it from a position of ignorance and their own insecurity. If you are worried about your looks ““ remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and love is blind. None of us are perfect and the most important person you have to please ““ is you.
My favorite cause is the No-Kill animal shelter ““ I love to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves.

CTR: Do you think our society is more supportive now of people with physical challenges, interracial/ethnic/cultural couples, single parents seeking partners etc. than perhaps we were in times past?

SH: No, not really. People are people and intolerance is still a factor. Our focus changes, we may be more tolerant of one thing ““ like interracial couples ““ but we become more intolerant of overweight people or people from a particular region of the world. Every generation has its failures.

CTR: Do you have a special hero or heroine who has influenced and inspired you? A person you especially admire who has struggled and triumphed against some tough odds?

SH: Yes, let me tell you more about my friend “Scarlet’. She is a perfect example of a person that fell through the “crack’ in society. She had no health insurance because of a “pre-existing condition’. At the time of her surgery that resulted in the kidney damage, she was a minor and under the care of a father who was overzealous in his religion. He did not sue the doctors and hospitals because he felt that her fate was “God’s will’. When she became an adult and went to college, she could not get employment in her field because she could not pass the physical and without the job, she could not get insurance. It was a vicious circle. If the health care program that our nation deserves ever becomes a reality, people like Scarlet will not be denied coverage through no fault of her own.
Scarlet persevered and because of love will live to see tomorrow.
