Inspiration Behind You’ll Think of Me ~ Wendi Zwaduk

I've often been asked wha the inspiration is behind my work. Most of the time the characters just start talking to me. In the case of You'll Think of Me, things were a little more complicated. I have a dear friend, "Gavin" who is currently serving in the Air Force. He tells me all about hanging out on the tarmac, fixing the planes and such. He's a great person and I love hearing his stories. I have another friend, "Ted" who served but isn't any longer. Not officially. Truth is, he's still serving if only in his head. I know that sounds terrible to explain things that way, but the truth of the matter is he's suffering from PTSD and it's not getting any better. Yes, he's getting help, but when the dreams come back, he's still fighting.

Both of those friends were the inspiration behind Cade and Rhett. Cade is more of Ted kind of person. He's got the demons from the time he spent in the service still waging war in his head. Rhett is more like Gavin. He plays at carefree, but he knows the path Cade is on and it's all too easy to end up going down it.

One thing I have to mention…war isn't glamorous and it's not romantic. As much as some would like it to be, it's not. The men and women coming back have issues civilians cannot understand. I give the men and women all the credit in the world and thank them for their service.  I hope this shows in You'll Think of Me. This is a story close to my heart. Telling our fighting forces that we appreciate them isn't a luxury, it's a must.

Want to know a little bit more about You'll Think of Me?

The man of her dreams finally came home from the war, but is he still the man she remembers or have his demons changed him forever?

Melanie Roberts loved her best friend more than she could ever imagine, and for longer than she wants to admit. Though once lovers, she's resigned herself to being no more than his best friend and roommate. On the eve of his return from deployment in Iraq, in order to keep her heart from breaking, she decides she's moving on—after one last sexy night.

Cade Nicholson has come to a decision. As he comes home damaged in both body and soul from his latest deployment, all he wants is to find comfort in Melanie's arms. Unsure and unsteady in expressing his love to the only woman to hold his heart, he has to find a way to convince her of his true feelings.

Can two best friends overcome their demons to prove their love for one another before past decisions come back to haunt them and it’s too late?
