Informal Poll Question 2–Time and place

Okay,  thinking about romance/erotic romance, what sub-genre(s)  do you prefer:  Contemporary; Nostalgia (about 1920 to late 1980s or so) , Historical (any locale or specific period?); Futuristic/Science fiction; Paranormal/Fantasy (i.e. :steam punk, urban fantasy, Tolkeinesque, shape-shifters, vamps, zombies?? Or maybe variety is the spice of your life when reading? Tell us and maybe you can encourage a new or favorite author to produce more of what you love!

Also do you like a setting that is familiar and comfortable, like a city you know, your old home town, or the traditional ‘meanwhile back at the ranch’ etc. Or do you prefer the added adventure of visiting a place you will probably never get to go? How about a historical novel set in British India? Maybe in China centuries ago? Or a book taking place  in some alien, distant world that is hardly like ours at all?

I have to admit to being a very eclectic reader and I do like variety. I may get on a ‘kick’ of reading a certain sub-genre or seeking out a specific setting at times but to me it’s more about a good story, and authors I especially enjoy. I’m not big on Medievals but a few authors do them so well that they are ‘must buy’ for me. I like kick-butt action but sometimes a character driven angsty story will grab and move me, too.  I like heat but if a ‘sweet’ and mild love story is told well, my imagination can supply the steam. So I just love books but after many decades of reading, I do get burned out on some story lines, settings and sub-genres at times.
