Holiday stories and memories…

The holiday season for me usually means a whole lot of crazy with shopping trips that last for hours on end as I drive for my mom and my sister! They've both refused to learn to drive, so it's always a laugh or ten when we all get together. I inevitably get exhausted, and I admit, a bit irritable because it's taking me away from my work – but the truth is, I still wouldn't trade it for anything – it's precious and special time.

I grew up in a house where Christmas traditions weren't really noted. It wasn't until we were all adults that we realized we had established a lot of family traditions. When I lost my dad a few years back, many of those special things changed irrevocably, of course. Now, new traditions are taking the place of old ones. But, memories are always with us, like ghosts of Christmas past…

Oddly, despite one sweet children's story a few years back, written for my sister about her beloved dog, I've never written a holiday story. I keep planning to, and it gets lost along the way. My question is, do readers actively seek Holiday stories at this time of year, or is it just an assumption that it's the season for those stories?

It's been an insanely busy year for me with new books and such, but one of the most exciting releases of the year has been my first full-length novel in over a year, it's a vampire thriller, non-erotic, called Out Of The Past from XoXo Publishing. The first review was amazing, here's a bit: OUT OF THE PAST is a paranormal thriller that is part historical and part modern day. The first reviewer stated: "Out of the Past is a crime-mystery, a thriller, a romance—intensely sensual, interweaving 1880's London with present day Toronto in a heady blend of carefully constructed scenes and a cast of characters that bring the story to life with an undeniable authenticity. This is a tale that will satisfy on many levels. I heartily recommend it for your 'must read' list. Well done, Denysé Bridger."

I hope you'll have a look, and enjoy it if you decide it's to your reading taste!

You can find all the info about this book, and read the Prologue here: http://www.denysebridger.com/book.asp?page=75

I'll be giving away a copy of this novel, too, so leave a comment and an email – and you're entered. Will pick a winner and notify you tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks to everyone – and Happy Holidays to all! Let me know if you think it's time for me to do that holiday tale, too – and what genre you'd like to see! wink

Part historical and part present is a really great setting for a paranormal thriller. So many possiblities.

Out of the Past is one of the best novels I have read in a long time. I had the pleasure of being a beta reader  for the story about a year ago and was thrilled when Denyse allowed XOXO to be the publisher of the book.
If you want to add one really good book to your library this year, this is the one to add.
