Technically, Windmaster Golem is the fourth book printed in the Windmaster Novels. But in order of the storyline, it is the
third book because Windmaster Legend does not feature Captain Ellspeth and Lord Dal. Instead, Windmaster Legend gives life to a tale hidden in the mists of time and is independent of the other tales. Which is why I sometimes call Windmaster Golem Book 3.
So how did Windmaster Golem come about. The storyline did not end with a cliffhanger, but with a little tease. Not large enough to qualify as an unfinished thread, the ending gave the characters a chance to whisper in my ear. The problem was that the characters whose tale was to be told were too young. And there were way too many complications when you figured in the romance.
So how did I resolve the issues? When a writer gets stuck on a scene, sometimes it helps to change the point of view. In the case of Windmaster Golem, I changed the main characters. I shifted the lapsed time, aged two young characters from Windmaster, and Kiansel and Brodie came into their own.
Magic animated the golem. Can someone without powers stop them?
A rogue mage aims to rule everyone with the ability to wield magic, especially Kiansel, sister of the Oracle. He just needs to find the means to bring the army of clay soldiers to life and the secret to bend the will of others to his. Kia’s emerging powers force an impossible decision. For to have magic demands she turn her back on her family, her heritage and the teachings of the oracle. Brodie’s assignment? Protect her. But how can a man without any magic of his own fight a curse or protect a friend from an invisible stalker?

About Helen: I’m a former feature-story writer and correspondent, but my first love is fiction. The descendent of a coal-miner’s daughter and an aviation flight engineer, my writing reflects the contrasts of my heritage and crosses genres from historical adventures and westerns to science fiction and fantasy. In the world of fantasy romance, I am the author of the Dragshi Chronicles and The Windmaster Novels. My stand-alone novels include the dragon magic fantasy, Fire and Amulet, and the dark fantasy, Imprisoned in Stone.
