One of my readers, Wendy, said that the passage in THE PROTECTOR that really rocked her world was when Ike realized he was in love with Eryn. You can find it in the last paragraph of p. 148. Wendy calls this scene one of her all-time favorite "reveals" of the hero's real feelings:
"A warm tide of respect washed over Ike as he watched her. The woman had been to hell and back. She'd been scared out of her wits and pushed to her limits, but there she was, all manners and grace, shaking hands with the Sheriff like she'd arrived to share a pot of tea. He fucking loved her."
Honestly, it doesn't get any better than that, writes Wendy. You really captured Ike's spirit in this. It sounds just like what I imagine would be going through his head in that moment.
What was your favorite part of THE PROTECTOR?
I haven't read it yet, but will be sure to let you know what my favorite part is when I do!
