Ghostly Encounters!

Thank you, first of all, to Coffee Time Romance, for having me here today, and Readers, thank you all so much for stopping in to learn a bit more about me. I hope you’ll leave a few messages or questions so we can chat. I will also be pulling one lucky commenter on Friday, July 22 to win a box of spicy chocolates and caramels from Cowgirl Chocolates in Moscow, Idaho.

For those who aren’t familiar with my work, I write multi-genre romance. I categorize it that way because I write historical, time travel and contemporary romance rather than only in one genre. I have two books available right now and we’ll get to those later on. I’m working on book three and had hoped to release the book in September, but to stay realistic, it may be Nov. 1st that I have to shoot for due to other priorities that have happened. Stay tuned to my website for more information on the release date.

My third book, Whispers at Ghost Point, is a contemporary set in Wilmington, North Carolina and is about an abandoned lighthouse; I’m bringing back, or reincarnating, a few of my characters from my second novel, No Turning Back. (Some may wish to read No Turning Back before reading Whispers, but that isn’t necessary to the story) Whispers is about a woman with a passion to restore lighthouses to their original beauty and the man who isn’t sure he wants to cooperate with this plan. The story also involves a ghost who’s been dormant in the tower of the lighthouse for years waiting to reclaim the woman he lost in his past life. He realizes who she is during one of her visits to the property and he’ll stop at nothing to reclaim her – dead or alive!

I can’t say a lot more than that without giving away too much of the story. Do you enjoy reading ghost stories? Have you had a ghostly experience? Let’s chat! On my blog, I have several posts about ghosts and lighthouses and right now, there is a post of the character interview with two of the characters from Whispers that you might find interesting. I also have a link on my blog to read the first chapter of Whispers if you go there and click on the BookBuzzr link on the left side. (My other two books are there also for your reading pleasure to get a taste of each of those books)

My first book, Never Surrender, is an Indian time travel that will pull you back in time to 1835 Wyoming into the Shoshone Nation. Taima is a blue eyed warrior in search of his soul mate, though he doesn’t realize he pulls her from the future. Their personality clashes torment the relationship as each of them fight against the attraction to one another. This book deals with second chances at love as well as reincarnation. You’ll find those issues a common thread in my books, though that was not the original intention when I began writing.

My second book, No Turning Back, is an historical set in England in 1778. This story pulls you back to the castles, balls, dukes, pirates and sword fighting aboard ships that so many of us love in our historical romances. Again, both characters find a second chance at love but the trials thrust on them might be more than each of them can handle.

I hope I’ve given you a few more books to add to your shelves and if so, I’d love to hear from you. I have several participation sites at FaceBook and Twitter; please join me! My newsletter goes to close to 2,000 readers and the subscription is on my websites. You can find me at these sites below:

*walking through the crowd and streamers hanging from the ceiling, thanking those who read the interview and stopped in to chat a bit*
Thank you for stopping in to read. Not everyone will leave a comment who reads the post and I'm fine with that. I hope you enjoy visiting my sites and learning about my characters for Whispers at Ghost Point.
Those who do leave a comment will be in the drawing for the spicy chocolates from Cowgirl Chocolates. Did you hop over to their website and check out all the flavors they have? She also has a newsletter you can get to learn about her specials! Thanks for stopping in to read!

Hi Deanna! Stopping by for support.
I'm on page 172 of No Turning Back. I'm glad I'm reading this book first before Whispers at Ghost Points is released. I'll be able to bring back scenes from the past in my mind when I start reading Whispers. Sept or Nov hurry up and get here!  LOL

  • Na

    Hi Deanna,
Your books have definitely caught my attention and I am adding them to my to-be read list. I am a multie-genre reader so I think it's wonderful you are a multi-genre writer and you write some of my favourite genres: time-travel and historical romances. I really enjoy stories about lost loves, second chances and reunions. I find them heart-wrenching and deeply emotional and that's why they appeal to me. I have never had any experiences with them but I do believe in them =)

  • Na

The last sentence what I meant to say that I belive in ghosts even though I have never had any ghostly encounters =)

  • Karen C

    Hi, Deanna!

Karen – thanks for stopping in. I hope you're able to read one or both of my books!    *unwrapping a spicy caramel – mmm….it's melts in my mouth* The winner is going to LOVE these candies!!

I have read No Turning back and I think it is a beautiful story! I can't wait to read more of your work. Your upcoming book sounds amazing since I love ghost stories and being from the Oregon coast I have visited several haunted lighthouses! Thanks for sharing today!

    Hi, Deanna,
You must know that I am, without a doubt, your biggest fan. I totally love writing and your books are fabulous; they are exactly the kind of books that I look for when I go shopping for something to read. My only problem with you is that you don't write fast enough! (hahaha!) Just kidding. I just wish you had already written a million books by the time I discovered you, and then my hunger for your books would be satisfied for the time being. Ah well…such is life. I guess I'll just have to read the ones I have, over and over, hmmm?
My dream is to one day have a complete collection of your books that are autographed. Someday I will…someday. Whispers sounds like an amazing story, by the way.

    Dearest Deanna,
The computer ate one of my words!
In the comment above, it was supposed to say:  I totally love your writing and your books are fabulous. Of course I love to write, but in this case, I was trying to convey that I love your writing. There. Now I finally think I've made myself clear.
    Blessings to you, Deanna.
    Sincerely,
    Cynde

LOL Thank you SO much! I'm glad you enjoy my books and I promise, I'll try to write a little faster. I need to control the other priorities in my life more so I can write more often!
Now for the contest winner…drum roll please….by random.org drawing, the winner is:
KAREN C – congratulations!!  Please email me your mailing address so you can get the spicy chocolates! My email is deanna.jewel at yahoo.com

Designing the Perfect Romance Cast Register by April 29th and save $5, use code ROMANCECASTKNIGHT2024 at checkout! In this brand-new month-long online class, New York Times bestselling author Angela Knight discusses the importance of creating the perfect cast for the kind of romance you’re trying to write.

A memorable romance cast is more than the sum of its parts. To create an effective book, all the characters – protagonists, antagonists, and minor characters – must work together as a unit. And each must fit the kind of book you’re trying to write. Leatherface of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre does not belong in a Rom Com. Nor do you want minor characters to steal the book.

But how do you create a good cast for this particular book and the audience you’re aiming for?

Angela discusses how to design your heroic couple for each other, along with the minor characters and sidekicks who help make the protagonists three-dimensional.

She’ll also talk antagonists and their henchmen, and how to use them to create tension and excitement.

Next, she’ll explore dialogue, humor and arguments as a way to develop character and conflict.

The result will be a firm foundation for your book so you won’t be flailing in the dark, trying to figure out why the heck your book isn’t working.

Lessons in this month-long online class will be posted on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students may email scenes to Angela for her private critique and suggestions.

Check out #marteekakarland #hot #MC series #GrimRoad series. Save at #changelingPress #Rocket #Lemon #Bullet These belong on your #keeper shelf

Rocket: My life pretty much took a hard left a year ago when I first met Lemon. She’s wise beyond her years and as abrasive and sarcastic as they come. The second she busts my VP’s balls -- literally -- I know I’d never be able to forget her. A year later I’m still infatuated with the vicious woman. When she runs off to charge hell with a water pistol, I’m right behind her wondering how we’re gonna get out of this one alive. But I have a smile on my face and a determination to give this woman anything she wants. Even if it means some things in my club are going to have to change.

Lemon: Look. This is supposed to be all about how Rocket caught my eye and I decided I wanted him but there were obstacles and… phfffffff… Forget all that. What you need to know is when people are stupid, they need a kick in the… Crap. I’m not supposed to swear here. Grrrrr! Anyway, this is where I come in. Grim Road needs fixing. I’m not exactly qualified to do club… garbage, but Rocket? Yeah. I might have decided I’ll keep him, so… I’m great at whipping people into shape. Grim Road, meet Lemon. See me, love me, MF’ers.

Rocket: Just pass me the beer and popcorn…

Lemon: I’m settling in at Grim Road in my role as vice president. The men test me, but it’s all in good fun. I think I enjoy it as much as they do. Then, out of nowhere, things go horribly sideways. I realize how much weaker I am physically than everyone else in the club. That weakness can be a horrible liability. Yeah. Things are going great. Until they aren’t. I may have bitten off more than I can chew…

Rocket: My little sourpuss is a force to be reckoned with. She takes everything dished out to her and gives it back in spades. She’s my VP, but she’s also my old lady. Sometimes, I need to take care of her. More importantly, she has to let me. That fact is never more apparent than when a small team of roughnecks think she’s a woman from another club.

Watch for Knox....he`s coming

Resident Relic Hunter for Deva’s Fae Council is a title Bethany Aodhán never wanted, but it isn’t like she has a choice. Kissed by the Alien is the second book of the Holiday Heartmates series by Julie K. Cohen.

Lexi is amazing! She’s strong, brave, resourceful, fearless, stubborn and feisty. And she has such a kind and compassionate heart. Even more, I loved her courage, determination and confidence to do the things she does and to face any challenges and hardships thrown her way. Lexi is a wonderful woman and I loved her so, so much!

And Lutan is such an incredible male! He’s brooding, quiet, fearsome and not very fond of Earth. And he’s also honorable, kind and fiercely protective. But the Zyanthan warrior also carries so much guilt and pain inside his heart. Nevertheless, Lutan is amazing and I adored everything about him!

I absolutely loved everything that happened between Lexi and Lutan! While on a mission to track down illegal blasters that keep finding their way on Earth, Lutan captures a male who turns out to be no man at all. I loved those two together! I loved their instantaneous attraction and their chemistry was fantastic. Even more, their banters, bargaining and teasing were so much fun to read. Lexi and Lutan might seem to be on opposite sides of the law, but they fit so well together. I loved how protective Lutan was of Lexi and I adored Lexi for standing her ground and never backing down from challenges and danger. And, yet, both had so many things they needed to deal with. Lutan also really did his best to stay away from Lexi, but fate cannot be denied. And when they couldn’t resist the undeniable need for one another anymore, the passionate moments they shared were so hot! I just love the Zyanthan warriors and all their… extras! Lexi and Lutan were so perfect for each other and, after everything both went through, they deserved to find happiness and love together!

Overall, Kissed by the Alien is another fantastic addition to the series! It’s filled with suspense, danger, action, drama, angst, twists, betrayals, humor, scorching hot passion and magnificent characters.
