Beth Cooper is a bartender. Her mother and father are long dead and she has been drifting through life.
David Parr is a wolf shifter, working as a security guard before returning home to his pack.
Beth is in trouble. She has just found out that her long dead father owes fifty thousand dollars to a local mobster. That man wants her to pay him back by robbing an armored car with his henchman Kelvin. The robbery goes terribly wrong when a guard is shot and Beth is forced to run. David is shocked to find that his mate is a forbidden human and has to find out how involved she is in the shooting of his friend and coworker before he acts on his attraction.
This is a quick and action packed read. I liked the characters, but the premise, especially Beth’s debt are a bit far-fetched. It is never clear just why David is working as a security guard; there seems to be more of a story there but we never get it. The story also ends abruptly. The lack of detail detracts from an otherwise enjoyable story.
