Shelley McCann is an accountant. She has been in love with her husband since they met in high school, but she is constantly worrying about his safety.
Jack McCann is an undercover FBI operative, currently working on a case involving illegal arms dealers. This is going to be his last job.
When Jack McCann goes missing after he is identified as a fed on his latest assignment, he is presumed dead. He wants everyone to believe this, until he finds the person who blew his cover. It is essential that they do not find out his real identity, lest they connect him to Shelley.
This story is action packed from the beginning until the end. I loved Shelley; she is a strong, beautiful, and intelligent woman who is surviving in an impossible situation. Jack, while charismatic, seems to be a bit selfish to me. A married man who spends that much time undercover, is not thinking enough of the safety and happiness of his wife. He does come to his senses during the course of the novel, but a staid family man would have made for a boring story and this was anything but. I was completely surprised at the identity of the traitor in this gripping novel. Be aware that there is some pretty graphic violence that might alarm the faint of heart.
