Shayler is cruising through college life partying and having a lot of sex. Life is on a outstanding path, until she ran in to the one man who called her easy, David. She is confused by the response but it continues to echo through her life and though she is humiliated by David’s response, she keeps running into him. What do you do with a man who is not interested in sex unless it is in a relationship? No can do.

David, a teaching assistant at the college, is looking for love and refuses to treat sex casually. He runs into the one woman on campus who is rabidly against relationships and he finds it difficult to stay away from her.

David suggest friends and in Shayler’s confusion she says yes though she has only ever had one use for a man and friendship was not required. Time passes and Shayler finds herself in deeper than she thought and not sure what to do about it. Can David teach Shayler the benefits found in a relationship, or will she turn and run as fast as she can?

I must say as a contemporary woman I was unable to understand Shayler. I found her character initially as repugnant and feel this is the emotion the author intended because she had little redeeming value to humanity. I pushed past the pity I felt for a woman who made no bones about the fact she thought variety was the spice of life. I do like the author’s ability to take the standard bachelor who wants nothing to do with relationships and turns him into a her. She is a brilliant creation of a woman with brains who wastes her college years partying and having sex until someone comes along and shows her a different way. I will say to readers stick with the story, no matter your feelings, until the very end and you will not be disappointed.
