I really enjoyed this novel. It is set in New York during one of the most interesting eras, the Gilded Age of the late eighteen hundreds. The author does a wonderful job of describing the people and places that made that era so interesting. Her characters fit smoothly into that world, bringing it to life. I found the plot to be engrossing with many layers and unexpected twists and turns, leading to a thoroughly satisfying conclusion.
