Blog Takeover ~ Historical Romance with Edie Cay

author Edie CayGood morning CoffeeTime Romance! I am steamy historical romance author Edie Cay, here to do a blog TAKEOVER. I thought I would start us all out this morning with a little introductions before I get into the really cool stuff.

*I am the author of two historical romance books:

A Lady’s Revenge

The Boxer and the Blacksmith (out Feb 1, 2021, available for pre-order!)

*I’m all about TEA. (not a coffee drinker)

First thing in the morning, I drink black tea, usually PG Tips or Yorkshire Red (or Gold if I have it). A little sweetener, a dash of creamer, then I can function and listen to words and sometimes even speak. (Sometimes not). 4 mugs a day is my usual.

*I’m a newish mom—my son is three years old. He’s really fun, and a genuine peach, except when he’s being a three-nager.

*I have lived all over the United States, which has exposed me to a lot of different cultures. We don’t often think of the US being so culturally different in terms of geography, but we are, as it changes foods that are affordable, available, and how/when people congregate to eat and cook. (I like to think about food).

author Edie Cay baking in the kitchen*I love to bake. I’m a massive fan of the Great British Bake-Off, have a cookbook of theirs, and definitely cheer on all my favorite contestants, even if I am on a re-watch of that season.  Blog post about it. When I bake bread, I picture Paul Hollywood coming in and sticking that great, fat finger in the middle of the crumb and saying something inscrutable while I try not to die inside. It’s fun.

*My day job is in health care. I am an echocardiographer, which means I do ultrasounds of the heart. I’ve been on part-time or less since my son was born, which I thought would give me more time to write, but as it turns out, infants and toddlers are not the best writing companions. I have absolutely been affected by the pandemic. It has absolutely been hard. This year has wrung my family out, as both my husband and I work at the same hospital. We’ve tried very hard to protect ourselves and others, and I still came down with it. I’m struggling to recover still, in fact. It’s been a month and a half since I first had symptoms. It’s a real bugger.

But the reason I am here is that I write steamy historical fiction with alpha heroines! I am a historical fiction writer, and I have some real boring credentials, like having an MFA in Creative Writing, and having been to a bunch of conferences. But then the fun stuff, I’ve also had the privilege to edit a novel and a short story collection, I review for the Historical Novel Review, and I belong to a historical fiction authors collective called the Paper Lantern Writers. I blog regularly there, as well as share all my news.

I am most active on Instagram as @authorediecay, but you can also find me on Facebook @authorediecay. Of course, for all the latest news, books I recommend, tea stuff, and material that didn’t make it into the final edit, you can sign up for the Edie Cay newsletter.

Hi, Edie! Love your book and can’t wait for the second one! I am an avid coffee drinker and covered my coffee mug when I read about your tea (you know, so it wouldn’t go cold that a tea drinker was hosting a coffee time website!)

Edie has such a wonderful writing voice. I remember the first thing I read of hers (something so far unpublished) and was blown away.
