Quite a few years ago I grew extremely ill. After lots of testing, the doctor told me there was nothing he could do for me. When I got home “See Dr. Lee” popped in my head. Since I didn’t recognize the name, I thought nothing of it. However, the phrase continued to nag me. Eventually, I realized a friend of mine had seen David G. Lee, D.C., Ph.d., C.Ad, for a back problem ten years earlier. Nearly on death’s door, I needed more than a chiropractor. Still, the name persisted. I finally called my friend and got Dr. Lee’s phone number. When I visited his office, I found he had become an alternative doctor as well as a chiropractor.

Dr. Lee started treating me for chronic Lyme disease, which was caused by an insect bite. In a month or so, I started to get better. Others suffering with the ailment contacted me about my remedies, so I wrote Barely Above Water. To make the book fun as well as informative, I wove the facts into a story with a sweet romance and youngsters on a ragtag, comical swim team.

There’s no doubt in my mind God put Dr. Lee’s name in my head and answered an unspoken prayer.
