Well, there are cowboys and cowboys, aren’t there? I grew up in a ranch environment and the real cowboys I knew were mostly old, at least to me as a teenager, and not very glamorous. They did not fit the images I enjoyed on either the big silver screen or the small one in the living room but that didn’t kill my enthusiasm. Fictional and film cowboys were, to me, some of the sexiest and most attractive men out there and I loved a lot of them””mostly from a safe distance, let me add, although a few up close and personal. 😉

That background came right along with me when I began to write fiction so cowboys in various guises crop up in many of my stories. Apparently a lot of readers agree with me because western settings are still very popular after all these years.

As Deirdre O’Dare I started writing erotic romance several years ago. My first story was not western at all but after that came my Rodeo Girls series where three friends found their true love among the competitors in the arena, one of the last real bastions of the traditional western milieu. When I began to write m/m romances, again, the first one was not western but my all-time best seller was, a tale featuring a rancher and his beloved stock dog, (Doggone Love ) the first of my very popular Canine Cupids collection which now numbers eight tales with more in various stages of writing. So yep, I think cowboys are sexy and I never tire of writing about them! I can promise my readers there will be more until the ink runs out of my well and the ole brain cuts off the supply of characters, ideas and hot stories! And I hope that does not happen for a very long time!
