Violet Shaw is the hardworking owner of a popular diner. She has very little time for a social life and is trying to grow the business her beloved Uncle Bibb left her.
Hogan Guthrie is a widower and a single father. He is trying to overcome the financial and emotional hardships his late wife caused.
Screwy Louie’s has become Hogan Guthrie’s escape from his everyday life and his past. He and owner Violet have a lot of chemistry, but both have been fighting their feelings. Violet was a witness to Hogan’s hound dog phase and Hogan is still hurting after his late wife’s betrayal until one night when they finally act on their attraction.
This book actually combines three stories in one. The strongest plot line involves Hogan and Violet, but the subplot of local Sheriff Nathan Hawley and jewelry designer and part time advice columnist Brooklin Sweet really deserves its own book. A third subplot involving Hogan’s son Colt and the new girl in school Charish goes nicely with the rest of the plot. The author does a great job of intertwining these three stories and when danger follows Brooklin to town, it makes for a very exciting plot twist. The sexual harassment that Hogan is subjected to at his accounting firm is very relevant in these times. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who loves contemporary romance with a bit of suspense.
