Dougall is appalled at the offer of a lady by her own brother; of course, he turned the distasteful offer down though he feels for the woman. He initially agrees to help her escape her brother to fulfill a debt he could never repay, but along the way he discovers Murine is the one woman who could make him want to marry.

Murine is a woman on the run and Dougall the man who vows to protect her even from himself. Dougall decides to marry her to keep her safe, or so he tells himself and his brothers, but the fact is he can no longer live without her. There are secrets the couple is unaware of and those secrets just may lead to the death of Murine and Dougall’s dreams.

Ms. Sands offers a wonderful romance with just enough suspense to keep the reader enthralled. I thought the character development allowed the reader to fully immerse themselves in the story despite the story being a continuation from another book. The pace of the book was perfect and the twist in the plot at the end wrapped up the story perfectly. The talent of Ms. Sands shines through each word and I recommend reading Falling for the Highlander.
