Insta-Coffee Welcome, today we’re meeting Emily Carrington and learning about her as well as her new releases, books 3 and 4 in her Dragon Lost series. Emily, I’m curious: why have you chosen to write about Dragons, Werewolves, Genies and other extraordinary creatures?

I love how “human” they are, struggling with prejudices, pride, and relationships while bringing fantastical features into each book. Dragons are my current favorite thanks to a mistake someone on my team made, calling “Conventions of Dragons” a “Consortium of Dragons.” This gave birth to the idea of a two-book arc for the throuple* I wanted to write about.

*I use the word “throuple” instead of trio because it implies longevity, something far deeper than a ménage à trois.

What makes for good chemistry between your leading characters?

Sexually speaking, Parisa and Noah enjoy how Joel looks. For Joel, who is blind, he finds their love of talking and touching to be a huge turn-on. Emotionally, their broken places fit together like a puzzle.

How do your paranormal books differ from others in the genre?

I write with a little less heat, which brings the emotional journey forward, at least for me. Also, all my SearchLight books (and there are over 50 stories, broken into 35+ volumes and box sets) are interconnected. They’re by no means all about the same couple or throuple, but they’re all based in the same world where the UN-like organization, SearchLight, works for equality for all.

You also like to add danger in your Dragon Lost series. Do you think this makes romance more intense?

The original reason I added danger in my SearchLight books was that I was looking for a contrast with my M/M contemporary romances. J. Arlene Culiner

I don’t choose favorites among my children, pets, or dragons and vampires. They are all my favorites. I have loved dragons for as long as I can remember. Then I found out about vampires and loved them too.

As a paranormal romance writer, what made you fall for dragons?

I didn’t fall in love with them. I have always loved and dreamed of them. All my books are right out of my dream journal. Dragons fly every night in my dreams.

If you had to choose from writing about Vampires, Steampunk, or Dragons, which one would you choose if you could only have one?

I don’t believe in choosing just one. I choose Vampires and Dragons. I write steamy romance such as Vampire King of New York from my 2nd vampire series. I write sweet romance fantasy with my dragons as in Lady Fallon’s Dragons. I;ve also started a multi-supernatural-verse series for ages 13 to 113 with Young Supernaturals of New York, which includes vampires, werewolves, faeries, elves, humans, etc. Right now EverWarm and EverNight are in that series with more to come. Insta-Coffee Hello my Friends - Just a quick update on the Wings launch. I have to admit I was a little nervous about this launch since this story is really off the beaten path for what most of us browse when we are looking for something. I mean let`s face it there are plenty of Wolf Shifter and Fae Prince stories out there and that`s great. Those are fun stuff. But to my knowledge, no one else has put out a love story set in ancient India and I didn`t know if you guys would love it or hate it. But I felt passionate about the story so I did it any way. And (BIG sigh of relief!) the 5 star reviews are coming in and I couldn`t be more thrilled!

Immersive and Addictive
"I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but Wings of the Starborn completely pulled me in. The worldbuilding is rich without being confusing, and I loved how the mythology and technology are woven together — it feels unique compared to a lot of other romantasy books. Leela is a smart, relatable heroine, and I enjoyed her slow-burn dynamic with Prince Arjun — there’s chemistry, but the romance doesn’t take over the whole story.
