I hate to admit this, but I don’t like sour cream. I know some of you are gasping and shaking your heads right now—lol! Don’t worry, I still serve it with my latkes. But I’m known for my homemade applesauce, and trust me, it more than makes up for it.

It helps that I live in a state famous for its apples. Did you know over 60% of the apples in the U.S. come from Washington State? WSU has an apple breeding program where they work on developing amazing new varieties, like the Cosmic Crisp, Honeycrisp, and a new variety that doesn’t even have a name yet. The WA 64 is a cross between a Honeycrisp and a Cripps Pink, also known as a Pink Lady. I can’t wait to try it in my applesauce when it’s available!
