The Magic of Santa
By Renee Field
I have a favorite Santa moment but I will confess that I didn’t actually see the big-red guy in his suit. When I was newly married and for our first
Christmas our star for the top of the tree broke. I remember saying to my hubby that a tree without a star didn’t seem right. He told me to ask Santa for one. I did but knew in my heart that wouldn’t be in “Santa’s” budget. We were newly married and money was tight and what we had was going to pay off a student loan so I said to hubby it wasn’t a big deal. Well that night we went to bed and imagine my surprise the next morning when I saw the star. This star isn’t made of glass ““ it’s truly made from the heart. Santa’s magical touch and creativity to create the star meant a lot to me ““ so much so that 21 years later our star is the same. Yes we have more money now and could easily buy a shiny new star but why would I do that? The star that rests atop our family tree is to us a magical star. Santa heard my wish and to this day I’m a believer.
