Describe your published works–The Twenty-first Century Author

Describe your published works. (Are they traditionally published, self-published, or both, and in what order did this occur?  Are your self-published books backlist, new releases, or both?  How many are traditionally published vs. self-published?)

Suzan Tisdale

All of my books are self-published. My first book is Laiden’s Daughter, Book One of The Clan MacDougall Series, then we have Findley’s Lass, Wee William’s Woman, and soon to be released, McKenna’s Honor. I have at least five more planned”¦

Vicky Dreiling

All of my books are traditionally published with Forever Romance.

Donnell Ann Bell

I am published with Bell Bridge Books.  My books are single title, and new releases.  I write women in jeopardy, cop stories around the theme SUSPENSE TOO CLOSE TO HOME.

Catherine Bybee

Both. My contemporaries are now published through Montlake. Amazon Montlake is like a hybrid in the publishing world. They publish like the big six, but the print books never make it onto the shelf at Barnes & Noble. Which is sad for my readers, but I’ve found it doesn’t hurt my sales. The digital copies of my contemporaries are only sold via Amazon. Now my paranormal and time travel romances are all self-published at this point and those books can be found on all formats. I will keep my hands in both worlds”¦traditional and self-published.

Laurin Wittig

I published three books traditionally with Berkley Publishing in 2002, 2004 and 2005. In 2010 I got the rights back to all three and re-published them independently. In the fall of 2011, I was contacted by Montlake Romance (Amazon’s new romance imprint that had not yet launched) about republishing all three of my backlist, now indie, books as part of the launch. I ended up publishing two of my three backlist books with them ““ Charming the Shrew and Daring the Highlander, collectively The Legacy of MacLeod books ““ but chose to keep one book, The Devil of Kilmartin, indie. Montlake has since bought three brand new books from me ““ The Highland Targe series, starting with Highlander Betrayed in August, 2013 ““ and I have two novellas in the works that I will independently publish in the next 12 months or so.

Kat Martin

All of my books are traditionally published–which now includes ebooks.  I’ve worked for seven different publishers over the years.  The only self-published books I have out there are novels that were out of print and the rights returned to me, seven in total.  I have 55 books, most still in print and also ebook format.

Benjamin Wallace

All of my works are self published. This has given me a great opportunity to publish both novels and short stories.

Tanya Anne Crosby

I published traditionally first. All in all it was a good experience, and I have no regrets, but success in the trad publishing world is a fickle thing, loyal only to money. I learned that the hard way. For me, life intervened and I found myself unable to continue in the same vein, and it didn’t take long before I felt the traditional world just sped by me, chewing me up and spitting me out in its wake. I took a much-needed 10-year break to recharge, and came back to a very different publishing world. Currently, I’m doing both, trad and indie. My suspense series is traditionally published through Kensington. My historicals, except for a few novellas, are all books I’ve had the rights returned to. And all new historicals are completely indie. To date I’ve written 14 full length books, 4 novellas and I’m working on a sequel to SPEAK NO EVIL and Book 1 of a brand new Highland Brides series (I’m really excited about both of these projects!)
