I’m addicted to romance

marshallsbride200X300_72   Hi! I’m Starla Kaye and I’m excited to be here. I feel like I need to make a confession first thing: I have an addiction. I’m addicted to writing romance, to creating Happily Ever Afters or at least Happily For Nows. It doesn’t matter the romance sub-genre. I’ve pretty much tried them all. I am also addicted to reading romance. I look forward to hearing from you about writing, reading, or anything concerning my books.

As I mentioned, I write mainly as Starla Kaye, but also occasionally as S. K. Fero or Skylar Faye. And I write for Blushing Books Publications, Decadent Publishing, Black Velvet Seductions, and Red Rose Publishing.

Cowboys, contemporary or historical, I love them”¦and I write about them. They have always fascinated me, especially the fictionalized cowboys created just how we cowboy-lovers like them. Why does my heart beat faster when I think about cowboys? There are so many reasons, but a few of those include: they have great butts; they melt my heart when they drawl out “darlin”; they are “hot” in or out of their clothes; they know how to brand their women; and they are “willing” anywhere, anytime, or any place.

I’m not saying that I don’t appreciate other men or don’t write about them, because I do. I enjoy writing about a strong and determined Scottish Highlander or a hardened English knight or a somewhat stuffy English lord in Regency times. A pirate? I’ve written about one of those, too.

I’ve even written a couple of m/m romances and two m/m/f romances. There are so many people who need and deserve to find happiness after enduring heart wounds and tragic pasts. Basically I enjoy feeling like I’m a matchmaker for all those people needing to find love, needing to find that person who can help heal whatever their troubles are, or find someone who can accept them for who they are.

I mentioned that I like to write about cowboys. The Marshal’s Rebellious Bride is my newest historical Western romance release from Blushing Books Publications. This is a revised and retitled book, with the original being Whiskey’s Rebellion. There was a complicated reason for doing the book over, but I was thrilled to do so. Whiskey Wakefield and US Marshal Morgan Rydell are two of my favorite characters from the 20 novels, 33 novellas, and 7 anthologies I have written. They were a couple of the very first characters I created when I first thought about writing. Over the years they stayed in my mind and heart. I rewrote their story many times before finally publishing it in 2010, and now again in 2013.

As a result of its success, I am working on a sequel to The Marshal’s Rebellious Bride. The next story (Chase’s Daring Bride) will be mainly focused on Whiskey’s twin sister, Brandy, and the man she reluctantly marries, Morgan’s half-brother. Whiskey was great fun to write about. She was everything I’d like to be: headstrong, independent, daring and rebellious”¦and a serious pain-in-the-neck to the big, gruff lawman determined to marry her. Brandy will blossom in her story, from the supposed prim and proper sister into a woman even more daring than her twin. And her husband”¦well, he is going to suffer even more trials than Morgan did.
