Hi again,
My favorite part of writing romances is crafting the hero. In reviewing the basics of the stories I’ve written, I realize that my heroes have a few things in common. For one, they’re all gorgeous. So gorgeous that women stop and stare. Now in real life, that type of man would probably be an underwear model. And I don’t know about you, but I’d feel silly with an underwear model. But since I’m running things in my stories, these great-looking guys are tech executives or cowboys or pirates and they’re always very unconcerned with their looks. They’re also smart and funny and tough. (Not that I’m saying underwear models might not be all of those things…I wouldn’t know.)
Another common theme with my heroes is being orphaned. I never set out to do this. They always just are. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m trying to spare my heroines in-laws.
The only time a hero of mine wasn’t an orphan, his mother was a pirate. Go figure.
Any other similarities in heroes you notice in the books you read?
