I’ve been kind of quiet today in my AZGaye hat <smile>. I think it is the weather. We’re going into the monsoon season and right now the temps, humidity and barometric pressure are bouncing all over and that always messes me up! I get sleepy and achy and cross–which is not the normal ‘gooder’ me at all. If it would rain, we’d all feel better.
So I’ve been hanging out and reading and approving the comments and just kind of vegging. My apologies. I’m also not as focused as usual. In a mere three weeks and two days I will be taking off for my big adventure of three weeks in Alaska! Needless to say that is occupying a lot of my thoughts these days. I’ve been fascinated with Alaska since before it was a state, back when I was a very small girl. About then I read the two books by Bud and Constance Helmricks, We Live in Alaska and We Live in the Arctic and even though I am a confirmed desert rat, it captured my imagination. I know I’ve often mentioned my huge interest in and admiration for the folks–and their fantastic dogs–who run in the sled dog races like the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest. I am actually going to meet a few of them and perhaps get to pat one or two of those lovely dogs. I will be missing my own ‘furkids’ very much I am sure and in desperate need of a dog fix. So all of that is another reason why I am not real chatty today.
For any of you who follow my blog off and on, I will be posting as often and as much as I can on the deirdre-fourds one about my trip and hopefully even adding some pictures. A friend has loaned me a little netbook which is kind of a mini-laptop crossed with a tablet computer that is wifi capable and I think I can upload pix from my digital camera to it. I’m still playing with the techie stuff here. Anyway I will be sharing as much as I can about the trip. In time there will also be a book but more on that later.
