Andy vs The Colonel by Gwynn Morgan

Back in my prior life as a civil service employee, I spent twenty five years working for the US Army and Air Force at various locations in Arizona, Colorado and California. Those experiences inspired me to write a military-set story which was published about twelve years ago. Although the idea of women in combat has advanced a long way in that time, it is still not completely set in cement. While I stayed away from the political aspects–although I do feel women are capable of doing any job a man can other than being a father, I recognize that having them serve alongside men can lead to some personal issues and problems. This was what I tried to explore in Andy vs The Colonel.

The war in the setting occurs in Central America rather than the Middle East but war is war, wherever it happens. People die and both tragic and heroic acts and events occur. There are parts in this book where I still laugh, cry a little or say, “Oh yeah!” as I root for the characters who were all very real to me. I tried to make it all as authentic as I could although the equipment was all fanciful and the designations were not those used in any of the commands for which I worked.  Some reviewers were put off by my adherence to realism but hey, that is how I write, so love it or leave it!! Anyway this book is still available through Mundania Press and has been a steady seller for ll the time it’s been out there.

Next post I will give you the buy link, cover and a blurb and after that a couple of excerpts.  BTW,  I may not always agree with the government but I am very patriotic and I call the 4th of July one of my most favorite holidays. This year’s fireworks were spectacular and I’m proud my little town has one of the best displays in the state of New Mexico!!

But I also far prefer peace to war…so go in peace, one and all.
