I had an entirely different story planned when Adam arrived on the scene. He was mentioned one time in Keeper of the Golden Dragon’s Heart so he wasn’t on my radar. I didn’t even have a backstory for him because, to me, he didn’t even qualify as a secondary character. Poor Deputy Thomas was simply background for me 🙁 Lucky for me, he was demanding and his Luna wasn’t much better. I dropped everything and went to work on what is now Natural Born Enemies. Deputy Adam Thomas’ story was unique, special, and very close to my heart. I was happy when I finished his story. It completely wore me out. From his past, his PTSD, and his personal war, Adam kept my feelings very close to the surface.
